See what happend previous years. Chemistry Week 2007
During the week 5 – 12 November 2009 International School of Paphos students from Kindergarten class to Year 13 (ages 2 ½ to 18) will all be doing practical work based around the theme of food. Some students will be looking at how food changes in the kitchen, or how glue can be made from milk. Other students will be looking at obesity and how the hidden ingredients in food affect our health.
Head of Science and a Chartered Chemist with the Royal Society of Chemistry, Mrs Claire Polycarpou said “We have decided to participate in this event for the fourth time, as we wish to build on the success of the past. It is important that young people realise the importance of chemistry in our lives. Food is something we all need, and we want you to know how the chemical sciences are having a positive impact on ensuring that we have healthy food, now and in the future”.
Chemistry Week is a themed week of events. Held every two years, it promotes a positive image of chemistry and increases public understanding of the importance of chemical science in our everyday lives. The theme has been chosen to help the Royal Society of Chemistry's (RSC’s) demonstrate the vital role of chemistry in providing healthy and sustainable food.
A range of events will take place all over the UK and Ireland during the course of the week.
