Exam Regulations

ISOP Candidates sitting IGCSE and GCE examinations should take note of the following regulations which should be strictly adhered to. Any violations may lead to disqualification. You should come properly equipped for each examination with your equipment in a clear pencil case or clear plastic bag. You may bring water in a clear bottle with no labels. Any other drink or food is not allowed during the examination. You do not need to wear school uniform on the day of your examination.

Joint Council of Qualifications JCQ on behalf of EDEXCEL

Use of Calculators and Dictionaries
1 Candidates are allowed to use calculators, unless the specification for the subject says otherwise.
2 Candidates are not allowed to use dictionaries in any examinations, unless the specification says otherwise.
3 Candidates who meet the JCQ awarding bodies’ regulations may use bilingual dictionaries.

Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)

Dictionaries are prohibited in A Level and AS Level, except where specifically permitted by the syllabus.
The use of simple translation dictionaries is allowed in IGCSE examinations, except in the case of language examinations or except where specifically prohibited in the syllabus.
'Simple translation dictionary' means a dictionary  that only translates the word and does not also give a translation of the meaning or definition of the word.
The use of electronic dictionaries is not permitted in examinations.

 Key Times

In order to further safeguard the integrity and security of examinations, CIE has put in place certain restrictions related to the supervision of candidates up to certain Key Times. These depend on the location’s Administrative Zone. Cyprus comes under Administrative Zone 3 and our Key Times are 12:00 for the morning session and 16:00 for the afternoon session.
Unless informed otherwise, examinations will start at 10:30 for the morning session and 15:00 for the afternoon session. This means that even if the examination finishes before the Key Time, candidates will have to remain supervised within the examination room until the end of the Key Time.
