News from the German Department
Two of our Year 13 students were successfully prepared for further examinations in German, beyond A-Levels, by their teacher, Mrs Gordes.
Milan Dinic passed his TestDaF, the language examination required for university entry in Germany.
Maria Michael passed an exam set by University College London and will study English and German Law at UCL and in Cologne, Germany.
In addition, Maria Michael was chosen for a scholarship to represent Cyprus at “Eurocamp 2015” in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt in August. She was one of 80 young people from 30 European countries who participated in voluntary work on environmental and social projects, as well as an intercultural programme to enhance mutual understanding between different nationalities. Mrs Gordes had prepared Maria for the selection process, which included an interview and writing an essay.
One of our Key Stage 3 teachers, Miss Palasthyova, has been awarded a scholarship by the Goethe Institute. In August 2015, she attended an international workshop and training course for German teachers in Berlin. This is the second time a teacher of ISOP has been selected for one of these prestigious courses.
Congratulations to our students and teachers!
