An International School of Paphos student, Ryan Beazley, has achieved first place in all of Cyprus, for his performance in the IGCSEs this past summer. According to an announcement by the University of Cambridge International Examinations, five students from the private school will receive Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards after being identified as the best performing learners in Cyprus.
Ryan Beazley received the highest grades island-wide from a total of seven IGCSE students, and was named Top in Cyprus for his results in Biology IGCSE. The highest grades island-wide were also awarded to Margaret Wheatley for the subject of Geography (IGCSE), and Michael Ttappous for the subject of Business Studies (AS Level). Two more students from the school, Katerina Kouroushi and Dmitry Kosarev received High Achievement awards for the subjects of Foreign Language Greek (IGCSE) and Economics (AS Level) respectively.
“The students of ISOP have once again showcased their high academic standards and their talents. We would like to congratulate our students, their families and their teachers, who helped them succeed and achieve such high commendations,” said ISOP Principal, Dr. Litsa Olymbiou. The Principal also added that “our students’ performance demonstrates the high quality of both the instruction as well as the learning that our school’s curriculum provides.”
An awards ceremony to recognize the achievements of the five winning students, as well as students from other schools, will be held in Nicosia on 2 December 2011.
