Isop Celebrates World Maths Week
WALK-A-THON AND MARKET DAYS A GREAT SUCCESS
During the week beginning 3rd March, Years 3 to 6 took part in two exciting events. The aims of both were to raise money for charity and to help students improve their mathematical skills and apply them in practical situations.
Years 3 and 4 took part in a sponsored “Walk-a-Thon” around the school’s running track. This walk raised €1685.00 and this money will be used to sponsor a child with ActionAid.
Years 5 and 6 held two market days on the 10th and 11th, during the morning breaks, selling items they had either made themselves or bought in bulk for resale. Prior to the market days, working in teams of two or three, they had produced sales plans, detailed budgets, projected the profit per item sold and created, with the help of the I.T. Department, a range of promotional and advertising materials.
Despite being forced to hold the sales indoors due to poor weather, both days were a great success. The money raised will be donated to “The Friends Hospice” in Paphos and “Revive Paphos”, the Re-forestation Project in Argaka initiated by the school. Pupils raised €635 in total. €550 will go to ''The Friends Hospice'' and €85 to ''Revive Paphos''.
Well done everybody – staff, children, and of course parents and friends!
