Christmas Performances - Foundation KS 1
On Friday 8th December 2017, the Kindergarten and Reception children gathered back stage to perform their Christmas play “Cock-a-doodle Christmas”. Some children were very excited, some were nervous, some were upset. But when the curtains opened, they sang their little hearts out.
It was an enjoyable afternoon with an original take on the Christmas story: The animals on the farm were waiting for their presents. The piglets wanted a silky red ribbon, the cows wanted a shiny bell, the cockerels wanted a jazzy bow tie and the mice wanted some yummy cheese. When they saw the birth of baby Jesus, they realised he was the best Christmas present of all. All of the children danced, sang and said their lines beautifully.
In the interval, the Junior Choir performed Christmas songs under the guidance of Mrs Taskova, as always with joy and verve.
Then the children of Year 1 and 2 dazzled the audience with their performance of “Santa’s on Strike”. With colourful costumes and enthusiastic acting and singing, they led us on an adventure, trying to convince Santa to change his mind and deliver the presents after all. Of course, they succeeded!
For those who may have forgotten, this play was a sensitive, witty reminder and a celebration of all that is still good about Christmas … and children.
Well done to all staff involved and a big well done to all the pupils who took part in our two plays this year!
