ISOP has been selected as one of eight schools in all of Cyprus to be trained by the environmental organisation Terra Cypria through their project Generation KLIMACT. The aim of this training, which will take place over the course of this academic year, is to promote environmental information, awareness and protection in Cyprus through education, lobbying and conservation action. Generation KLIMACT is raising awareness on climate change and guiding young people to become active citizens in calling for a safe and prosperous future, away from the harmful consequences of climate change. The Eco Club, Philanthropy Club, Boarding House, and several other students and teachers joined the Let’s Do It! Cyprus Week of Action. This campaign aimed at clearing rubbish from the natural areas of the world.
Students cleaned the areas surrounding the school and had an opportunity to learn more about community engagement and also about recycling. Our KS3 students participated in their first training and selected climate ambassadors to represent our school. A sustainable future in Cyprus and around the world requires young people to become aware of the environmental situation and take an active role in protecting our earth.
