- Buy reusable drinking bottles
- Bring packed lunches when you can – this can save money and is much healthier
- If your kids really want to buy their own lunch at school, go over healthy food choice in your school’s menu with you child ahead of time
- Get a reusable lunch bag
- Don’t buy extra notebooks which won’t be used (to save paper)
- Introduce recycling at home to make your children more familiar with it
- Avoid individually packaged food which contributes to plastic buildup
- Grow potted plants with your younger children – this can cultivate empathy in children for nature as well as act as a bonding experience between you
- Use alternatives instead of plastic folders (manila, cardboard-kraft, fabric)
ISOP students advice for conserving energy:
- At your house save energy for at least an hour each day by logging off from screens and devices and using that time to connect and bond with your loved ones
- Use natural light during the day and help conserve energy by just opening the blinds
- Wherever possible use solar energy and solar powered equipment
