The Greek Department organised a visit to CYENS, Centre of Excellence in Nicosia. Students of Years 10 to 12 and their teachers, Dr Marina Tymviou, the Head of Greek Department Mr Andreas Kafkaris and the Head of History Department Ms Emilia Pieroua, went on a guided tour of the CYENS premises. They learned about immersive technologies such as computer graphics, character animation, 3D motion analysis and virtual reality, together with their applications in cultural heritage preservation. For example, they virtually visited the Agios Neofytos Monastery and Engleistra (place of Seclusion) in Paphos and the Ledra Palace Hotel —the once large and glamorous hotel of Nicosia— now in the Buffer Zone. This was an amazing trip, thoroughly enjoyed by all.
