The International School of Paphos has been awarded the title ‘Eco-School’ for the academic year 2021 and 2022, in the ‘Green Flag Award Ceremony’ that was held on the 21st of June 2021, at the Hellenic Bank Head Office in Nicosia. Our school participates every year, with entries from kindergarten, primary and secondary school. Our Eco-team participation has been hands on, with new creative ideas and projects, which has led us to gain 3 flags! Thanks to the two eco clubs running this year, and the students who participated in a range of projects- activities well worth it!
‘Eco-Schools’ Programme is a growing phenomenon which encourages young people to engage in their environment, by allowing them the opportunity to actively protect it. It begins in the classroom and expands to the community by engaging the next generation in action-based learning. The Programme is carried out in conjunction with Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association (CYMEPA) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports (MOEC) and the active support of Hellenic Bank.
All schools have to follow a seven-step change process to be eligible for the title. If the students show improvement in learning, attitude and behaviour towards the environment, the school is awarded the title.
Congratulations to all students and their tutors.
